I believe profoundly that music has the power to shape and change people.

Ewan mackay

As a music tutor and wider music educator, I believe that everyone has the possibility to engage with music, either through playing and instrument, writing music or simply engaging with it on a deeper personal level. I profoundly believe that music has the power to shape and change people. It is this belief that is at the core of my practice.

As a disabled musician, I strived through the struggle to be the best I could be. It was not without its immense difficulty, however, two decades on, these experiences have shaped me and made – I believe, a more profound artist, and a more compassionate teacher as a result.

As a teacher, I specialise in Cello, Guitar and Piano, but I also consult composition as well laterally expanding into building tools and resources to help younger students and learners of music.

Something from Nothing

In 2019, I took my work in a new direction with a commission from Drake Music. The result was the creation of ‘Something From Noting…’ This is an educational performance piece, centered around random choice and audience participation, which challenges the perceptions of composition, and the beliefs that anyone can compose, regardless of their ability.
